Political Sign Placement Prompts Neighbor Dispute

Thursday, Aug. 28
A well-being check was done on a woman at a Front Street address at 8:04 a.m. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

A neighbor dispute was reported at 10:01 a.m. at a Seaview Avenue address, where a Seth Moulton political sign was put up on a fence that is on a disputed border. One neighbor took down the sign because they do not support Moulton. The neighbor who had put up the sign then came outside and allegedly threatened to damage a hedge. An officer helped mediate the dispute and requested a lieutenant to also assist. After more than an hour, it was resolved.
A man reported at 10:48 a.m. on Ruby Avenue that he did a woman a favor by letting her take over payments on her car, agreeing that once it was paid off he would give her the title. The woman has stopped making payments and is not returning phone calls. The man was told it is a civil issue that needs to be handled in small claims court.

A detail officer near the intersection of Humphrey Street and Broughton Road at 11:45 a.m. reported that overnight someone climbed inside the new St. Michael’s church steeple and pushed out one of the sides, causing damage. The steeple was on a trailer on the side of the road when this happened.
A landscaper reportedly fell from a truck and injured his arm at 11:57 a.m. at Green Street and Batchelder Road. Police, fire and ambulance units checked the area and no patient was located.
A Creesy Street resident was hand-delivered a notice from the Registry of Motor Vehicles at 12:05 p.m. saying his license to operate is revoked indefinitely because he is an immediate threat.
Somebody walked in to the police station at 1:53 p.m. to turn in a ring they found at the traffic lights at Pleasant and School streets, closest to National Grand Bank.
Somebody walked in to the police station reporting their Ford Focus was hit while parked near the Three Cod Tavern on Pleasant Street at 2:12 p.m. The person who struck the car was located and it was somebody delivering seafood.
Two vehicles were towed and two people refused medical treatment after a car crash at Pleasant and Spring streets at 2:53 p.m. A Toyota Camry crashed into a Honda Accord.
A well-being check was done on an elderly resident at a Pleasant Street address at 3:06 p.m.
A lost checkbook with cash inside was reported on Highland Terrace at 3:28 p.m.
Two boys with BB guns were reportedly shooting things in the area of Barry Road at 3:34 p.m. Officers were unable to locate them.
A caller reported at 4 p.m. that a man and a woman in a red kayak off Lighthouse Lane did not seem to know what they were doing and were drifting out to sea. The Harbormaster checked and the kayakers were fine and were making their way back to Little Harbor.
A disabled MBTA bus on Pleasant Street was making it difficult for traffic to get by at 6:02 p.m. Three buses ended up there and the broken down bus was pushed to the side of the road and a tow truck was called.
An overdose was reported at a Broughton Drive address at 7:24 p.m. A man found his sister unconscious with a needle in her arm. She was taken to the hospital.
A possible drunken driver was reported near Pleasant and Washington streets at 7:35 p.m.
A driver reported that she was following a possible drunken driver in a grey Ford Taurus on Pleasant Street, inbound near Smith Street at 9:57 p.m. An officer caught up with the vehicle near Ocean and Atlantic avenues. A breath test was administered at the driver’s sobriety checked out OK.
A group was reportedly partying and making noise at a house near the intersection of Washington and Mason streets at 10:23 p.m.. Officers checked the area and did not locate anything.
A woman on Broughton Road reported that a group of kids were “mouthing off” to her and they may be drunk at 11:56 p.m. Officers checked the area and found they were gone when they arrived.
Friday, Aug. 29
A woman at an Anderson Street address reported that when she turned on her coffee maker it began to smoke at the outlet and when she unplugged it she saw sparks. The Fire Department responded at 6:06 a.m. and took care of the problem.
The Fire Department responded to Evan’s Deli on Smith Street at 7:06 a.m. for the smell of propane in a food truck. The problem was resolved.
