2 Marlborough Police Lieutenants Raised To Captains In Historic Promotion
This marks the first time in over 20 years that the police department elevated officers to the rank of captain.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Two Marlborough police lieutenants have been promoted.
Mayor J. Christian Dumais announced that both Lieutenants Robert Jusseaume and Matthew Hassapes were promoted to Captains on Thursday, according to a news release from the city. This marks the first time in over 20 years that the Marlborough Police Department elevated officers to the rank of captain.
Lieutenant Jusseaume has served with the Marlborough police for over 35 years, and 26 of those years were in supervisory or management roles. He has worked in a variety of divisions, including criminal investigations, traffic enforcement and administrative services.

Lieutenant Jusseaume is known within the department as fair, honest and dedicated, according to the release.
Lieutenant Hassapes has also dedicated his entire professional career to Marlborough, according to the city. For the last eight years, he led the Investigations Unit, leading detectives through cases involving homicides, sexual assaults and complex financial crimes.

Hassapes has also played a large role in strengthening partnerships with state, local and federal law enforcement agencies, according to the city.
"These promotions are historic for our city and well deserved for both officers," said Mayor Dumais. "Lieutenants Jusseaume and Hassapes exemplify the dedication, professionalism and leadership that make the Marlborough Police Department a source of pride for our community. I am confident they will continue to serve with distinction as Captains and help guide the department into the future."
