5 Things You Need to Know Today: Dec. 13

The city is refreshing the look of a local landmark, and police are looking for the culprit in a weekend hit and run.

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1.  will light their “Tree of Light” at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15. 2. There was a hit and run in Marlborough in the early a.m. hours of Sunday. If anyone has information that could lead police to the culprit, give them a call. Here are the details: The culprit's car should have significant front end damage to their car that was reported by the victim as a metallic red Dodge Charger will black decals on it and a wing on the trunk. At the time of the incident, the suspect car had reindeer antlers secured to the roof. This car could have yellow and/or tan paint on it from the vehicle that was struck. 4. The Arts Alliance would like to invite area artists to exhibit their work in the upcoming Still Life Show. Works in all mediums are welcome to be a part of the six week display that will be held at Citizens Bank, 17 Pope St., Hudson. Registration deadline for the Still Life Exhibit is Thursday, Jan. 19. The form is available at the website: UpWithArts.org. There is a non-refundable entry fee of $15 per piece for non-members or $8 per piece for Arts Alliance members. Artists may exhibit two pieces of art. Artists may join at the time of registration. Mail or deliver the completed form to the Arts Alliance, 155 Apsley St., Hudson, MA 01749.

5. Don't forget: Marlborough's overnight parking ban went into effect on Dec. 1 and will continue through March 15. During this period, on-street parking is prohibited from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. every night. Vehicles violating the ban are subject to a $10 penalty. Additionally, vehicles that interfere with snow or ice removal operations are subject to towing and storage at the owner's expense.
