1. Congratulations to biology teacher Jo-Anne Sawyer who recently assumed the position of president of the Massachusetts State Science & Engineering Fair (MSSEF) board of directors. Also to William Rigney, another Marlborough teacher and MSSEF’s vice president, he was recently appointed to the newly created position of District STEM Instructional Specialist in the Marlborough Public Schools.

2. The in Marlboro celebrated its fifth anniversary with team members, guests and members of the community last Wednesday evening, Nov. 9 with an event that raised $1,200 for .

3. There will be an opportunity for area residents to meet some current Patriots star power this weekend. and GMC are bringing the Monday Night Football tour program to Marlborough offering a chance to meet running back Benjarvus Green-Ellis, Rob Gronkowski and Arron Hernandez among other active players. Participants will also have the opportunity to win signed memorabilia and tickets to a Monday night game. The event will be in the Macy's parking lot at the mall Saturday, Nov. 19 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 20 noon to 6 p.m.

4. The Coffee Loft on Lincoln Street is currently looking for entries in their Seasonal Art Show that will be held Dec. 3-5. The theme of the exhibit is "Art as a Gift" and the first place winner of the juried show will receive $150 in prize money. Entries must be received by Friday, Nov. 18. 5. For the next few weeks volunteers from Habitat for Humanity MetroWest-Greater Worcester will be working on fixing up a WWII veteran’s home in Marlborough. He will receive new back stairs, a wheelchair ramp, roofing and downspouts. Work was begun this past weekend and a group of young vets were present to help in the effort. Habitat is looking to grow their program in the area, and are looking for volunteers as well as deserving veterans that need their help.
