After Christmas, Marlborough Will Host Box Disposal Events

Along with Christmas trees and wrapping paper, cardboard is one of the top byproducts of the holiday season.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Analysts are predicting that shoppers in the U.S. will spend more than $200 billion on online purchases this holiday season.

That means it might feel like you have about 200 billion cardboard boxes left over after Christmas.

To help lighten the load, Marlborough will hold two special cardboard box recycling events after the holiday. During the events, residents can drop off all the cardboard that won't fit into recycling bins.

The two events will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 27 and 28 at the public works facility at 135 Neil St. The city will only accept flattened boxes made out of cardboard — no other packaging materials will be accepted.

For more details about the recycling events, contact the Marlborough DPW at (508) 624-6910.
