Case Files: Purse Nabbing Suspects Headed to Trial
An assault and battery suspect is out on bail after an incident at Sully's First Edition Pub early Christmas Eve.

Damon E. Jett, 34, of 62 Bartlett St., Northborough, faced serious charges in Tuesday morning after being arrested at in the aftermath of a bar fight. Police were called to the scene of the altercation shortly after 1 a.m. on Christmas Eve. After interviewing several participants and witnesses, police detained Jett who was found highly intoxicated walking down the street both shirtless and shoesless. According to court documents, officers initially planned to put the defendent into protective custody until a responsible adult could be found to take charge of him, but during this process he became "volitile and threatening." At that time MPD decided to levy charges against Jett, and while transporting him to police headquarters he made specific and violent threats against the arresting officer. He also repeatedly tried to injure himself by slamming his head into against the interior of the car, said court records. He was charged with disorderly conduct, two counts of assault and battery, malicious destruction of property over $250 and resisting arrest. He was released into a family member's custody hours later and paid $500 bail. A pre-trial hearing is set for Monday, Feb. 13, 2012.
UPDATE: Melissa A. Martin, 29, of 5 Gay St., Apt. 1, and Patrick M. Ryan, 40, of 12 Coburn, Framingham, returned to court recently for a pre-trial hearing related to charges that they . During the Wednesday, Dec. 21 hearing, Martin and Ryan were ordered to return to court Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012 for a compliance and election hearing to establish jury selection in a forthcoming trial, a date for which has not yet been set.
