City Offers Free Mattress Disposal

City officials have announced a free mattress disposal program that will take place on the first Friday of each month.

“I am happy to be able to offer this free and convenient service to our residents,” said Mayor Arthur Vigeant in a press release. “This initiative will help keep our neighborhoods just a bit cleaner.”

This service will help keep the city clean while providing a public service to residents at no additional cost to them, he said. The service will also be offered to commercial properties, but at a cost of $25 per mattress.

Each household can have two mattresses removed in each calendar year. To get the process rolling, call Republic Services — the city's trash removal provider — at 1-800-442-9006 x2 to schedule a pick up.

Pick ups will begin on April 5.
