UPDATED: 85 Connector Re-Opened After Fatal Head-On Collision

Two people have died in a fatal car accident in Hudson this morning.

The Massachusetts 85 Connector in Hudson is closed this morning after a head-on collision that has left two people dead. 

At 8:29 a.m. four cars were involved in an accident that included the head-on collision. Police initially reported that two victims were trapped with very serious injuries. 

A press release from the Massachusetts State Police received mid-morning stated that one victim had been pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim was being transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

It has recently been confirmed that the second victim has died at Marlborough Hospital. Both victims are adult males, and no information concerning their identities has been released as of this time. 

Road closures remained in place in both directions until 11:25 a.m., but are currently open to traffic.

"(The) investigation is ongoing into facts and circumstances of the crash, including directions of travel of motor vehicles and how two vehicles ended up in head-on collision. There is no separating barrier at the location of the crash," said a press release from the State Police Press Office. "Troopers are in the process of making notifications to next of kin of the deceased. ... The other two drivers involved were not injured. Vehicles involved were three sedans and a van."

The names of the victims will be released later this afternoon.
