MARLBOROUGH, MA — After months of paperwork and signature-gathering, the final list of 2023 Marlborough candidates is in.

The deadline to pull papers passed Friday, and candidates faced a Tuesday deadline to hand in signatures from voters in order to actually get on the ballot. Twenty-seven candidates will appear on ballots this election season for seats on the city council, two local school committees and to fill the open mayoral seat.

The first election of the season will be the preliminary on Oct. 10 to narrow the number of candidates in the races for mayor and the open Ward 6 city council seat. Voters have until Sept. 29 to register to vote in the preliminary.
