Former Hudson Firefighter Arraigned On Child Porn Charges
The firefighter resigned after authorities searched his home.

HUDSON, MA—A former Hudson firefighter was arraigned on charges he possessed child porn, according to authorities.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced that Raymond Spellman, 44, of Hudson, was arraigned on Jan. 9 in Middlesex Superior Court and charged with one count of possession of child pornography.
After getting a tip in March of 2017 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children concerning activity related to downloading and dissemination of child pornography, Massachusetts State Police traced that activity to a computer in Hudson.

On May 30, 2017, around 3 p.m., Troopers searched Spellman's home on Dean Street and confiscated his laptop and cellphone.
Through their investigation authorities learned that the defendant’s Chatstep and Dropbox accounts were allegedly disabled by the companies due to the alleged content of the defendant’s downloads. Subsequently, Dropbox and Chatstep notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, said the announcement. Authorities found roughly 600 digital files, including photos and videos.

Spellman is a former Hudson Fire Department firefighter. He resigned from the Hudson Fire Department shortly after the execution of the search warrant. A Middlesex Superior Court Grand Jury indicted the defendant on Nov. 16, 2017.
Spellman was released on personal recognizance and ordered to have no unsupervised contact with children under the age of 18, to continue to undergo counseling, to not use social media or peer-to-peer networks, to provide all passwords and internet account information to the Probation Department and to make his phone available to the Probation Department upon request.
The next scheduled hearing in this case is February 15.
