Furnishing Options Charity Awarded $10K Grant

, a program of Marlborough-based announced earlier this week that it has been awarded a grant in the amount of $10,000 from the Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation. The funds will go to support the goals and objectives of Furnishing Options.

“This organization is proud to have earned the support of the Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation again this year,” states Toni Wolf, executive director of Employment Options. “ We have had a long-standing relationship with the foundation and they truly understand our mission and the needs of the people we serve.”

The Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation has also supported Employment Options in past years by providing funding for other programs including their Collective Kitchen Program.

“The Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation is pleased to be able to support the Furnishing Options program,” stated Dana Neshe, Executive Vice President & Chief Community Banking Officer for Middlesex Savings Bank. “Not only does this program provide household goods for those transitioning into stable housing, it also provides a wonderful venue through which Employment Options trains its clients, providing skills in customer service and sales.  This program is a terrific example of EO’s continued commitment to its clients and the greater community.”

Furnishing Options’ mission is to provide a variety of household items to individuals in need, low income families or individuals recovering from mental illness or other disabilities. Donations accepted may include sofas, tables, chairs, kitchen items such as pots and pans and other items such as lamps. Anything that can make a house into a home for people that may be struggling. Furnishing Options only accepts goods that are clean and in fine working condition.

Furnishing Options also serves as a social enterprise. The organization additionally offers a training site for youth and adults with disabilities to develop leadership and employment skills including customer service, retail merchandising and inventory control.
