UPDATED: Second Victim Named in Fatal Accident

The Massachusetts State Police have released the name of one of the individuals killed in Friday a.m. accident on Mass 85 Connector.

Two Massachusetts men were killed in the head-on collision on the Massachusetts 85 Connector in this morning in Hudson.

According to a preliminary investigation, at 8:29 a.m. four cars were involved in an accident that included the head-on collision which took the life of Adam L. Richard, 34, of Hudson, who was traveling westbound on Route 85 when he crossed over into the eastbound lane clipping the tailgate of a 2004 box truck headed in the opposite direction. Richard's car then struck a 2006 Ford Taurus driven by Michael A. Kaminski, 60, of Oxford, who was later pronounced dead at Marlborough Hospital.

Richard, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, was not wearing a seatbelt, according to police, but was not ejected from his vehicle, a 2001 Chevy Malibu. It is unknown if Kaminski was wearing his seatbelt.

A press release from the Massachusetts State Police received mid-afternoon listed the names of the other drivers involved as well. The fourth vehicle involved in the accident was a 2004 Toyota Prius traveling behind the taurus that was unable to stop. Both occupants were wearing safety belts.

The driver of the box truck, Richard H. Delisle, 62, of Palmer, was not injured. The driver of the Prius and his passenger, Robert L. Murner, 48, of Wilbraham and Christine H. Murner, also 48 of Wilbraham, were also not injured.

Road closures remained in place in both directions until 11:25 a.m., but are again open to traffic. 

"The investigation into the facts and circumstances surrounding the crash, including what caused Mr. Richard to drift into the opposite lane of traffic, remain under investigation by Troop C of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit," said the release.

Troopers were also assisted at the scene by the Marlborough and Hudson Police and Fire Departments.
