MARLBOROUGH, MA — A Leominster man is facing multiple charges after an incident over the weekend where he fought with officers downtown, police reported.

Marlborough police went to the Discount Gas station along Main Street near midnight Sunday to speak with the man about an unspecified incident that had happened earlier in the day. When police noticed the 20-year-old was possibly drunk and underage to consume alcohol, they detained him until he could be released into the custody of an adult.

The man declined to cooperate with police, however, and began drawing attention from onlookers at nearby restaurants, police said. When police tried to put the man in handcuffs, he resisted and kicked one of the officers in the leg.
