New Council Candidates Enter Marlborough 2023 Election Lineup
Marlborough's field of 2023 candidates is getting larger with new potential at-large and ward council candidates.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — The list of potential candidates running in Marlborough's 2023 municipal election grew over the last few weeks ahead of this week's filing deadline.
Marlborough's 2023 election may be one of the most pivotal in recent years with an open race for mayor, an open at-large council seat and three open ward council seats.
Marlborough Mayor Arthur Vigeant is stepping aside at the end of the year after six terms as mayor and some 30 years as a local elected official. At-Large Councilor Samantha Perlman, Ward 3 Councilor Christian Dumais and challengers Patrick Hogan and Michael Baker are all running for the seat. An October preliminary election will narrow the field down to two candidates.

Meanwhile, Ward 1 Councilor Laura Wagner is stepping down because she's moving out of Marlborough to be closer to family. Ward 6 Councilor Sean Navin is vacating his seat to run for an at-large seat.
As of Aug. 14, here are the candidates who have pulled papers to run. An (i) indicates an incumbent, and an (r) indicates that a candidate who has returned filing papers for certification. Candidates who pull papers but do not return the required signatures will not get on the ballot.
