Marlborough Mom Who Lost Son To Opioids Speaks At DC Rally

The founder of Team Sharing,​ a community for parents who have lost a child to substance abuse, Juaire is speaking about her experience.

MARLBOROUGH, MA—Corey Merrill died of a drug overdose in 2011, and his mother Cheryl Juaire has been a vocal advocate about the opioid epidemic ever since.

Juaire, who is from Marlborough, is among the speakers at the FED UP! Rally In Washington D.C. on Sunday, reports MetroWest Daily News. The march and rally this weekend, organized by the FED UP! Coalition, is a call to action to the federal government to end the opioid epidemic.

The founder of Team Sharing, a community for parents who have lost a child to substance abuse, Juaire is speaking about her experience at the rally at Freedom Plaza. Roughly 70 members of Team Sharing are headed to the rally.

The FED UP! Rally takes place on Sunday, Oct. 7, starting at 3 p.m. with networking on Freedom Plaza, the program at 5 p.m., and the Opioid March to the White House at 6:30 p.m.

This is a call for "immediate action from our Federal agencies is needed to prevent new cases of opioid addiction, to prevent more overdose deaths and to ensure access to effective treatment for millions who have become addicted."
