Marlborough Offers Warming Centers During Arctic Weather
Temperatures may get as low as -30 in the Marlborough area after sunset Friday.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough will offer three warming centers for local residents during an arctic freeze hitting the region.
According to the National Weather Service, ambient air temperatures will drop below zero by sunset Friday. But gusting northerly winds will make it feel as cold as -20 to -30. Wind gusts could be in the 40 to 50 mph range locally, according to forecasts.
On Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Marlborough's main library at the Walker Building, Marlborough police headquarters and the Maple Street fire station will be open as warming centers. The city has also suggested the Solomon Pond Mall as a fourth option; it's open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The arctic freeze will be brief: seasonal temperatures will likely return to the 30s by Sunday afternoon, according to forecasts.
