Masked Man Toting Gun Arrested In Marlborough After Robbery Attempt
The attempted robbery happened at the MacDonald Hotel in downtown Marlborough early Wednesday morning.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — A Marlborough man was arrested early Wednesday morning after an attempted armed robbery in the downtown area.
Police responded to near the MacDonald Hotel around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday after a person called 911 to report a masked man approached them holding a gun and said "give me all you got." But the victim recognized the armed man and asked him what he was doing, police said.
The accused robber, Alexie Villanueva, 37, left in a car. Police found the vehicle nearby on Rice Street, but Villanueva was not in it. He left his ID card, the mask and a gun holster in the car, police said.

Police later found Villanueva along Washington Street and arrested him on a charge of assault with intent to rob while armed with a gun.
