Marlborough Preps For Heat Wave With Cooling Center, Water Access
This week's heat wave is forecast to peak Thursday with heat indices near 100 in the area.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough will offer cooling options during this week's heat wave, including during the Juneteenth holiday when government facilities will otherwise be closed.
From Tuesday to Thursday, the Marlborough Public Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with amenities like bottled water, activities for children and charging stations for electronics. Due to the holiday Wednesday, only the Grice Community Room portion of the library will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Marlborough Senior Center will also be open during normal hours this week for seniors to seek refuge. The city is also advising residents to use facilities like the Solomon Pond Mall to stay cool.

Almost all of Marlborough's swimming facilities are open. The city's wading pools are set to open on Friday. The splash pads at Ghiloni Park and Stevens Park will also be open longer until 7 p.m. Tuesday to Friday.
Outside the area, the state Department of Recreation and Conservation (DCR) will extend hours at pools, wading pools, spray decks, beaches, and waterfronts. For a list of DCR’s ocean beaches click here, and for the freshwater inland beaches click here.
