MARLBOROUGH, MA — A downgraded nor'easter is causing cancelations across Marlborough, including trash pickup and school.

A storm that was initially predicted to bring around 12 inches of snow to the area shifted south Monday afternoon, putting the heavier bands of snow closer to central Rhode Island. Marlborough is straddling an area that forecasters think will see either 4 to 6 or 6 to 8 inches by the end of day Tuesday.

Local officials are still preparing for a big cleanup. Mayor Christian Dumais declared a snow emergency Monday afternoon, and instituted a parking ban for all public roadways starting at 11 p.m. Monday.
