'Paint Party' Coming To Marlborough Over Labor Day Weekend

Marlborough residents can help a muralist complete a new piece at Union Common on Sunday.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough residents are being invited to contribute to a new work of art downtown.

On Sunday, residents can join muralist Melissa Stratton to fill in parts of her mural at Union Common. Stratton's piece depicts Marlborough's history, and was selected as the winning entry in Mayor Arthur Vigeant's mural project.

Residents who join the event will help paint squares that will become part of the mural, according to city officials.

"Art should bring communities together and that’s exactly what we do with a paint party," Stratton said in a news release. "This is my favorite part of creating murals. To see young children painting alongside their grandparents and knowing that they will take credit for the art as they grow brings me so much joy."

The paint party will run from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Union Common, weather permitting.
