Police Log: Newton Street Man Charged with Assault to Rape

Monday, Dec. 12:

2:23 a.m.: Jose Maximo Neto, 49, of 58 Newton St., Basement Apt., is arrested after police respond to the report of an attempted rape at the same address. He is charged with assault to rape, indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or over and assault and battery. 

5:56 a.m.: Services are rendered when police respond to a motor vehicle accident with property damage in the vicinity of Ames St.

11:35 a.m.: There is a motor vehicle accident with injuries near the intersection of Pleasant and West Main streets. 

1:08 p.m.: After responding to a report of suspicious activity at 40 Mechanic St., police arrest Jae Won Song, 38, of 169 Colmmack Rd., Colmmack, NY, and charge him with possession of a Class B drug, receiving an improper credit card, larceny over $250, resisting arrest, carrying a dangerous weapon and providing a false name/Social Security number.

1:23 p.m.: An unattended death is investigated by officers at the Modern Guest House, 8 Cotting Ave., Apt. 1. 

4:03 p.m.: During a domestic disturbance on Church St., William F. Castanos, 38, of 285 Church St., is arrested and charged with assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. 

5:26 p.m.: While investigating a motor vehicle crash with property damage near the , 169 Pleasant St., police arrest Jaclyn Anne Banach, 22, of 600 Hosmer St., and charge her with OUI liquor and violating DPW rules and regulations. 

10:34 p.m.: A field interrogation is conducted after officers respond to a report of suspicious activity in the vicinity of Church Street and Warren Avenue.
