Second Chipotle Planned In Marlborough
The Tex-Mex chain would be added to a shopping plaza under renovation along Route 20.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — Soon, Marlborough residents east of downtown will have an easier time getting their Chipotle fix.
The developer renovating the shopping plaza at 661 Boston Post Road east is planning to add a freestanding Chipotle with a drive-thru at the plaza. The restaurant would take the place of a planned bank and retail space at the plaza.
The Marlborough City Council approved a special permit for the overall plaza renovation in November 2021. At the Nov. 7 meeting, councilors approved a modification of the permit to allow the Chipotle. The bank that was supposed to go in the plaza would've also had a drive-up window. The new Chipotle will only be able to offer pick food up at the drive-thru; ordering via an outdoor menu won't be available.

Concord-based Aubuchon Realty Co. bought the 661 Boston Post Road plaza in June 2021. The company is also redoing the facade of the building, as well as signs along Route 20.
Marlborough's only other Chipotle is located at the other end of Route 20 west of I-495 in the Hannaford shopping plaza.
