Successful Summer of Giving at Marlborough Junior Woman's Club

The Marlborough Junior Woman's Club is a community based service oriented group that help to support those in need.

While many folks are enjoying their time off and kicking back relaxing over the Summer months - the Marlborough Junior Woman's Club enjoyed helping out and giving back, which gets done throughout the year.

The Summer kicked off with a fabulous donation of gift cards from Trombetta's for free ice cream. We delivered these cards to our local Police Station so they could hand out to kids that they "caught being good!" Basic concept was to provide a way to foster great relations between the Police and the local youth in the community, and this little acknowledgement of someone doing a good thing and a Police Officer recognizing it with the gift certificate was one way to help.

During the Summer, did you know that many children in our community do not have easy access to lunch? Well, our community has done a great thing in creating a Summer Lunch Program, initially created by Peggy Ayers, and the finances to support this program is needed all the time. So, the Juniors brought a donation down to the Marlborough Chamber Office, which helps to manage the funds for this program. The Chamber was grateful and the program was able to help keep kids' tummies full over the Summer months.

In addition to the Summer Lunch Program, our community constantly needs support for the local Food Pantry. A number of the Juniors got together and with a larger monetary donation, they took those funds, shopped and purchased a ton of food and delivered it to the Food Pantry to help. The Summer months are normally pretty lean for the Pantry, so this boost helped two-fold.

We love to partner with wonderful, giving groups - and we were fortunate to do so, in helping The Imagine Project, envisioned and led by our own community member, Julie Ciolino. We provided a check to the group to help with their support of Veterans. The Imagine Project helps Veterans through providing shoes, socks, shirts and pants to our Heroes in need, delivering and serving meals to homeless Veterans and providing social opportunities and support services as they navigate back into society, once coming home. We are continuing our support of this group through periodic clothing drives.

All in all, just a few examples of how we like to give back, but all of this is not possible without the support of our community. So thank you Marlborough! Hope you enjoyed your Summer - The Marlborough Junior Woman's Club sure did.
