Vehicle B&E Suspect Assaults Victim with Car, Arrested by Police

A man suspected of breaking into multiple cars in an area around Main Street early Tuesday morning is in police custody.

One potential theft victim would not have it so early Tuesday, when he pursued an individual caught stealing from parked cars. 

Manny Junior Casillas, 20, of 220 Lincoln St, Apt. Fl. 2, was arrested just before 4 a.m. Tuesday several hours after he allegedly ransacked nearly a half-dozen parked cars on the 300 block of East Main Street. This occured just hours after he was . 

A woman observed Casillas as he broke into a vehicle and as she alerted police her friend took off in pursuit of the suspect, said Detective Louis Turieo of the .

During the pursuit, in which the potential victim was trying to obtain a license plate number, said police, the suspect turned his vehicle on his pursuer and rammed him on purpose. 

The individual pursuing Casillas, however, was able to observe a plate number before the vehicle drove away.

Casillas and his vehicle were found a short time later by police and he was booked on five counts of breaking and entering into a vehicle/boat in the nighttime for a felony and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (the car).

Casillas was in possession of a few of the stolen items, said police, and the case is still under investigation.
