A History of Jews on Martha's Vineyard

This Hanukkah season, take a moment to learn the history of how Jews came to the Island

The coming of Jews to the Island is not something as well known as the coming of the English. However, the first definitively identified Jewish settler on Martha’s Vineyard was Sam Cronig and, following not far behind, was Yudel Brickman, both of whom went on to open stores where we all still shop today.

Learn more about the Island's history in the American Jewish Historical Society article, "The Pioneer Jews of Martha's Vineyard."
