David Crohan & Friends Play the Tabernacle Tonight for Good Causes

Tonight's concert will feature a host of fabulous musicians and benefit the Martha's Vineyard Cancer Support Group and Freedom Guide Dogs

David Crohan is a well-known name around this Island. This year marks the 50th year he has been coming to Martha’s Vineyard to entertain audiences with his classical and jazz piano and for 20 of those years he owned and performed at David’s Island House in Oak Bluffs. He has played for such notable guests as the Clintons, Carly Simon, Billy Joel, and Walter Cronkite.

This year, Crohan returns to Oak Bluffs to play the alongside host of musical friends. Audiences can look forward to seeing Crohan perform with old favorites like Hugh Taylor and Merrily Fenner to new guests like Jenna Lambert, Arnold McCuller and Dana Williams.

Williams, who attended and then went on to Sarah Lawrence College in New York, recently completed a tour with Leighton Meester of "Gossip Girl," where she was the opening act. Williams is the daughter of the late guitarist David Williams, who performed and collaborated with Michael Jackson for nearly 30 years.

McCuller has toured for thirty years as a back-up singer with James Taylor and is well known for his featured vocal parts on the song “Shower the People.”

Lambert, whose mother, Joanne Lambert moved to the Island to work with Crohan at David’s Island House, considers it an honor to be able to sing with such a sought after musician. Lambert graduated last year from Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, where she was a minnesinger. She said that her earliest memories of Crohan “are sitting on the piano stool with him while he played for the swanky top floor lounge of the Bay Tower in Boston. I would watch the way his fingers moved so effortlessly across the keys and produced such a beautiful sound. I think that was the very reason I gained such a huge interest in music.”

Lambert sang with Crohan last year at Seasons. “I was having dinner with my mom listening to him play and he invited me up on the stage to sing. I was so incredibly nervous but I guess he liked what he heard because that was what triggered him to ask me to be in this with him.”

Tonight’s concert will benefit the Martha's Vineyard Cancer Support Group and Freedom Guide Dog School that trained David's guide dog Walker.
