Five Things You Need to Know Today: December 12
Gleaners are needed, YMCA winter registration begins, and it's time for the West Tisbury holiday party

1. needs Gleaners today and tomorrow to pick potatoes, Hubbard squash and pumpkins. Volunteers are needed to both collect and distribute the food to schools, elders and others in need. Today they’ll be picking squash and pumpkins starting at 11 am. If you would like to participate, please contact Jamie O’Gorman at jamie@islandgrown.org or 508-687-9603.
2. The second Studio Holiday Workshop to Benefit Heifer International is this afternoon. Sculpey, Fabric, (sewing machine), Silk Scarves for painting, canvas, floor cloths and placemats, canvas panels, and more will be donated. There will be a table full of decorations to choose from, ornaments, mosaics, paint, Papier Mache’, Puppets, and more. Reservations are necessary and space is limited, so sign up soon. 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm. The cost is a $20 donation per person. All the proceeds go to Heifer International. 3. Tonight come celebrate with your fellow readers at the ’s annual . Everyone is welcome. Exciting refreshments will be served. Come have a snack & make a swag. 4pm - 6pm. Free.

4. Come out and honor Boy Scout Troop 93 tonight at the , Oak Bluffs. The troop will be receiving rank advancements & merit badge awards. 7 pm.
