Five Things You Need to Know Today: December 23
A Habitat Build, knitting for kids and a Hanukkah Party and latke dinner all happening today

1. Volunteer at a Build Site today at 50 Bailey Park Rd, Vineyard Haven. They are building a FirstDay Cottage which is system of construction which requires almost no carpentry experience. Just show up with a willingness to learn, sign-in with the construction supervisor and help make a positive difference in the lives of others. Please dress appropriate to weather conditions and construction work. Students ages 14-16 may volunteer accompanied by parent or guardian and 16-18 may volunteer independently with parent or guardian’s written permission. 2. is having a Knitting for Kids event today. Ages 8 and up. 9:30 am –11:30 am. $35. To pre-register or for more information, call 508-693-5554 or visit islandalpaca.com.
3. There is a Hanukkah Party and Latke dinner at the tonight. Enjoy a singing service followed by homemade latkes. Please bring a green salad, veggie side dish or fresh fruit plate to share. No meat please! The Hebrew Center will provide the latkes, dreidels, chocolate gelt and Chanukah candles. Please bring your Menorah and a non-perishable food item for the Island Food Pantry. 5:30 pm.
