Five Things You Need to Know Today: February 17

Today there is a Fabled Fourth Graders performance, an Eating Well on a Tight Budget demo and "Gossip" runs at MVRHS

1. Volunteer at a Habitat for Humanity of Martha's Vineyard Build Site today at 50 Bailey Park Rd. in Vineyard Haven. The building is a FirstDay Cottage -a system of construction that requires almost no carpentry experience. Just show up with a willingness to learn, sign-in with our construction supervisor and help make a positive difference in the lives of others. Please dress appropriate to weather conditions and construction work. Students ages 14-16 may volunteer accompanied by parent or guardian and 16-18 may volunteer independently with parent or guardian’s written permission. 8:30 am. 2. This morning learn about Eating Well on a Tight Budget at a cooking demonstration in the Hillside Village Community Room. Hosted by the Tisbury Senior Center and Island Elderly Housing. 3. The Fabled Fourth Graders of West Tisbury Elementary School perform at the Chilmark Community Center tonight. The three productions based on Aesop's fables consist of a straight play format, a music and dance format, and a series of three short fable films produced by the kids and the Martha's Vineyard Film Festival. 6:30 pm. 4. Friday Night is pizza night at the Scottish Bakehouse,  Choose from white crust, whole grain crust, gluten free crust and tons of toppings. $13-$18. 6:30 pm – 9 pm. For more information call 508-693-6633

5. For its second night, the MVRHS Drama Department's BravÉncore Troupe presents "Gossip" an original play written by the BravÉncore Troupe. Runs through Saturday at the Performing Arts Center at the high school. Tickets are $10, and $7 for students and seniors. 7 pm. This play is rated PG-13 and may not be suitable for all audiences.
