Five Things You Need to Know Today: January 2
Today there is a Christmas Bird Count, the libraries are closed and the Food Pantry is open

1. Today is a Federal holiday. That means all government offices, libraries and banks are closed and there will be no mail delivery.
2. The will be open for business as usual today. Folks who might need some food to feed themselves or their family should remember that the Pantry, located in the Stone Church in Vineyard Haven, just a block off Main St., is open to serve those in need, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, through mid-April, between the hours of 1:45 and 4 pm.
3. There is a Christmas Bird Count today from dawn to dusk, rain or shine. Make a list of the birds you see at your feeder that day and call between 1pm - 4 pm with your results. You could also choose to join a field team if you know how to use binoculars and have at least a beginning knowledge of birds.
