NANTUCKET, MA — President Biden is planning on spending Thanksgiving in Nantucket, according to a report.

The Boston Globe cited a source in saying Biden is planning on continuing a decades-long family tradition on the island, but it's unknown exactly where or when Biden will show up.

Biden and his family spent Thanksgiving last year in Delaware during the pandemic, but earlier this month he alluded to rejoining their larger family for the holiday.

"A year ago, we were heading into a Thanksgiving where public health were — experts were advising against traveling or gathering with family and friends," he said. “Last Thanksgiving, for the first time, it was just four of us — my wife and I, our daughter and her — and my son-in-law. Later this month, our tables and our hearts are going to be filled, thanks to the vaccines."

First Lady Dr. Jill Biden has spoken fondly of the Nantucket Thanksgiving tradition. This year she wrote about returning to the island in 2016, a year after her son Beau died.

"The year before, our family had forgone our yearly Thanksgiving tradition," she wrote on Oprah Daily. "Nantucket was just another place to remind us of all that we had lost. I knew how hard it would be to come back, but this year, the grandkids had asked."

Nantucket has long been a vacation destination for presidents. Biden has visited annually since 1975, including when he was U.S. senator and Barack Obama's vice president.
