Medford Planting 120 New Trees: Here's Where
The fall 2020 planting season recently kicked off in South Medford.

MEDFORD, MA — The fall 2020 tree planting season kicked off last week, starting in South Medford. Over the next several weeks, 120 new street trees of various species will be planted throughout Medford.
The city practices the "right tree, right place" philosophy, which is recommended by the MA Department of Conservation of Recreation and the National Arbor Day Foundation. This means the city plants trees in greater numbers of species and varieties where they can grow and thrive into maturity.
Diversification of species and planting of trees in appropriate locations, especially under urban conditions, ensures the success of trees and provides benefits to the community for many years, city officials said.
