1) We could be so hot together: Sunny, with a high near 86. Light east wind increasing to 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Thursday Night Clear, with a low around 64. East wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. (Forecast by the National Weather Service.)
2) We only come out at night: The city's holding a Come down and meet your neighbors, get some free slush, and be a part of the free games and activities provided by the Melrose Recreation Department.

3) Where the wild roses grow: Take a with hike leader Boot Boutwell from Friends of the Fells. The walk will focus on plant identification as well as fun and interesting natural history about the plants seen. Meet at the Long Pond Parking Lot, South Border Road in Winchester.
4) Citizen soldiers: Ryan McLane, Melrose Veterans Service Officer, will be today to provide assistance to veterans of all ages, especially those transitioning from military to civilian life. Office hours will be the second Thursday of each month from 1-2 p.m. in the Lounge in the lower level at the Milano Senior Center.
