Join us for English Country Dancing this Sunday afternoon, 3-5PM in the Baystate Cohousing unit on Pleasant St. in Malden Center.
I play the melody on my fiddle while teaching and prompting. Our focus is dances of the 17th century that were brought to New England by the colonists. For any who wish to try playing the melodies, sheet music is available and playing by ear or improvisation are encouraged.
These baroque tunes make one want to dance! The dances are accessible and the dancers are mostly newcomers so, don't expect a "performance" but rather a nice participatory community event for all ages.
