MELROSE, MA — Resident Tanji Cifuni has been appointed by the City Council as the new City Clerk.

Before she was a Paralegal for the Law Office of James Mckenna, Cifuni worked as a New England Patriots Cheerleader. She is a mother of eight as part of a blended family. Originally from the town of Acushnet, Cifuni resided in Winthrop with her husband, Rich, where she was a Town Manager Assistant, Community Development Director, and ferry operator.

Cifuni filled in as Interim Clerk earlier this year and has now been given the title officially as the long-term solution. The City Clerk’s office is in charge of maintaining all records. In addition, the clerk assists the city council with creating meeting agendas and then logging meeting minutes. The clerk also facilitates information to the community through public records requests.
