Melrose High Alumnus Inducted Into Prestigious Honor Society
Former Melrose High School student Samantha Mallon now has something in common with Jimmy Carter.

A multi-time former member of the Melrose High School honor roll apparently hasn’t slacked off at UMass Amherst, as the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society announced in a statement Thursday that Samantha Mallon shall be included into their ranks.
The academic society was founded in 1897, making it the third-oldest of its kind to recognize academic merit in the U.S., and the first to lack a focus on a specific scholarly discipline.
The Baton Rouge-based organization also describes itself as the most selective of its kind, accepting only 32,000 students, faculty, professional staff, and alumni from across the nation each year.

The distinction places Mallon alongside Phi Kappa Phi members including President Jimmy Carter, NASA astronaut Wendy Lawrence, novelist David Baldacci and YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley.
