Melrose Hosts Correction Officer Graduation
The Middlesex Sheriff's Office celebrated 22 new graduates of its corection officer training.

MELROSE, MA — The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office gained 22 new correction officers at a graduation ceremony for the 51st Basic Training Academy held at Memorial Hall.
The training consisted of a program that lasted more than 3 months, and included both classroom and hands-on work, as well as the mastering of policies, procedures, and skills needed to maintain prison safety and security.
Mayor Jennifer Grigoraitis was in attendance to provide welcoming remarks, and was followed by keynote speaker, Middlesex Sheriff Peter Koutoujian.

“As one of the nation’s premier public safety agencies, members of the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office have served this county with dignity, pride and professionalism for 332 years,” Koutoujian said. “These newly-minted officers will help us continue to set the standard for correctional excellence in the United States.”
According to the MSO, approximately 25 percent of the graduates were born in other countries.
This graduation marks the fifth for the MSO since Feb. 2023.
