Thunderstorms, Flooding Possible This Afternoon
National Weather Service forecasts call for thunderstorms in Melrose, which could bring rain and wind but are also expected to break the heat.

Update: The National Weather Service has also issued a flash flood warning for Essex County and northeastern Middlesex County until 5:30 tonight.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued severe thunderstorm warning for Melrose and surrounding communities, in effect until 2 p.m.
Thunderstorms are expected this afternoon into this evening.
Storms could bring "damaging winds" and "large hail along with torrential downpours," according to NWS.
NWS predicts southern New England will see the worst of the hazardous weather.
The hazardous weather could break the heat. A low temperature of 65 degrees is expected in Melrose this evening. The high temperature tomorrow is around 84 degrees according to forecasts.
