Man Eluded Police In Car, On Foot Until Arrest In Bellingham

The pursuit of a Connecticut man wanted for assault began in Southborough Thursday afternoon.

BELLINGHAM, MA — Bellingham police on Thursday arrested a man wanted in connection to an assault after an hours-long pursuit that began in Southborough.

The incident started around 1:30 p.m. Thursday when Southborough police contacted Bellingham to let them know that a man wanted on a felony assault charge might be in the town.

When a Bellingham detective went to the location where the man was thought to be, he fled in a stolen car, police said. Police pursued the man until his car "became disabled" in the Crooks Corner area near the intersection of Route 126 and Pulaski Boulevard. The man exited the car and took off running.

State police and other local departments were called to the pursuit, and police used a drone and a K9 in the search. But tips from the public ultimately directed police to where the man was hiding. The 33-year-old was arrested on charges including disorderly conduct, fleeing police and reckless operation of a vehicle. He was transferred to Southborough police to face charges in that town.
