MILFORD, MA — The MBTA has bought railroad track in Milford, Hopedale, and Bellingham for $13 million, according to The Worcester Business Journal. The track extends beyond where the Franklin/Foxboro Line ends at the Forge Park/495 station.

The newly purchased track includes the area where a planning agency examined the feasibility of adding stations in Milford and Bellingham. But the purchase appears to be because the MBTA wants to avoid leasing the track from Franklin Station to Forge Park Station, saving the agency money in the long run.

State Rep. Brian Murray (D-Milford) told The Worcester Business Journal that the purchase "has nothing to do with any plans to extend T service into Milford.”
