Milford May Shuffle Downtown Parking Near Post Office
Milford police have documented a problem outside the post office with cars occupying up all-day parking spots.

MILFORD, MA — A change may be coming to the downtown Milford parking scheme to create more spaces for post office patrons.
According to Milford Police Chief James Falvey, residents have complained to police about post office employees taking up all-day parking spots along the east side of Congress Street. There are eight parking spots along Draper Memorial Park, plus a handicap space, but only the two closest to Main Street are limited to 30 minutes.
Deputy Police Chief Robert Tusino met with the post office about the problem, but the discussion did not "result in any mutual agreement," according to a memo from Falvey to the Select Board. Falvey recommended the Select Board limit two more parking spots to 30 minutes to create more room for post office customers.

But at Monday's Select Board meeting, Chair Thomas O'Loughlin suggest the town instead create two new 15-minute spots on the west side of Congress Street directly in front of the post office near a bank of mailboxes. That idea would reduce the length of a right turn lane from Congress onto Main Street.
The Select Board ultimately decided to table the item until the next meeting to hear a report from the highway department about how the two new spots might impact traffic.
