Fontbonne Academy is 'One with the One Fund'

Two Fontbonne Academy students organized a week of fundraising and activities in response to the Boston Marathon bombing.

A Milton student and a classmate from Quincy created “One with the One Fund” this week at Fontbonne Academy to support the One Fund Boston for victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Milton junior Rebecca Olivieri and freshwoman Claire Lyons organized the week that included collecting donations and other activities.

The week included morning prayers, a Boston t-shirt day and the making of ribbon pins. The Fontbonne community was encouraged to walk a lap around the school as part of a “Marathon Challenge," a collective effort to walk 26.2 miles, the length of a marathon.

Olivieri wrote the following email to the Fontbonne Academy community announcing the week:

“The events that occurred last week at the Boston Marathon have certainly affected us all. After hearing about all the sad stories and horrible injuries we felt that we needed to reach out to these people and show our support. We want your help to show Fontbonne's support. This week there will be various events and activities that we will do as a school to show our support. This week Fontbonne will be "One with the One Fund." For those who do not already know, The One Fund Boston was formed by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino to help the people most affected by the tragic events that occurred in Boston on April 15, 2013."
