MHS Class of 2013 Graduates 'Milton Strong'
Principal James Jette used marathon imagery in his commencement address Sunday.
The 265 members of Milton High School's Class of 2013 received their diplomas in the Copeland Field House on Sunday, June 2.
First-year Milton High School Principal James Jette, who previous held the principalship at Pierce Middle School, provided the commencement address. During his remarks, Jette likened the students' educational journey to a marathon.
"I have had the privilege of watching you run this marathon since the sixth grade," said Jette.
To end his analogy, Jette explained that life's races are not over.
"There are many more marathons out there," said Jette. "You are Milton strong."
Salutatorian Ailsa Jeffries, Valedictorian Ellen Chow and Class President Patrick Adley were also given the opportunity to address and congratulate the Class of 2013.
As with many commencement speakers, Chow ended her speech with a quote, though she sought a more contemporary wordsmith in rapper Drake.
"In the words of Drake, 'we started from the bottom and now we're here," said Chow.
