Milton Voters Follow State Results, Elect Markey

Over 7,000 Milton voters hit the polls on Tuesday, following the state trend electing Edward J. Markey in the special U.S. Senate election.

The results are in and Congressman Edward J. Markey is the newest Senator from Massachusetts.

According to results posted by Town Clerk Susan Galvin, 7,064 Milton voters went to the polls on Tuesday, June 25 for the special U.S. Senate election. Markey defeated Republican Gabriel Gomez, by 55 percent in both the state and in Milton.

Markey earned 3,901 votes and Gomez received 3,111.

Gomez won in four precincts, including the Sixth, Seventh, Eighth and Ninth. Markey's largest margin of victory was in Milton's First Precinct.
