Man Hit, Killed By MBTA Commuter Rail Train In Newton

MBTA Transit Police said a man in his 20s was trespassing on the tracks when the train hit him.

NEWTON, MA — A man was hit and killed by an MBTA commuter rail train in Newton Wednesday. The man was in his early 20s. His name was not immediately released.

MBTA Transit Police said the man was trespassing on track two near Newtonville Station when he was hit at about 5 p.m. The Newton Fire Department and EMS units responded to the scene.

Detectives were investigating the death; foul play was not suspected. Police reminded the public it's illegal to be in the right of way of MBTA tracks.
