New Northborough Pizza (And Ice Cream) Places

Athens Pizza reopened under new ownership quietly last month, but was officially approved by the Northborough Board of Selectmen for a common victualler license at the most recent meeting.

Located at 292 Main St., Athens Pizza is now owned and operated by Maged Amin and Sheri Hend.

"I've been doing this for years," said Amin, who previously owned Christina's Cafe in Westborough. "I have the skills for these kind of items. This isn't frozen foods. There are skils in it. I can do some entrees, too. I think the restaurant had too many details and I want to downsize. It's a family business. It's Egyptian so we do some Egyptian food as well."

And taking over where Freshway Pizza and Ice Cream once was at 14 East Main St. is Anthony's Pizza and Ice Cream, owned and operated by Samy Gandy.

Gandy says "the dishes will be the same but in a different and better way."

He adds that the ice cream will "not be soft serve."
