Northborough People: Clem Lanza, Wooden Pen Maker

It's not often you know of a person who makes wooden pens. Clem Lanza has been doing it for two years.

NORTHBOROUGH, MAβ€”Clem Lanza first used a lathe when he was in high school, enjoyed it, and years later had an opportunity to make a pen at a woodworking show and gave it to his wife.

Lanza, 66, has lived in Northborough since he married his wife in 1996, has always been a woodworker. But for the past two years, he's focused on making wooden pens.

"I have made a few dozen," said Lanza, "which some I have contributed to Breast Cancer Awareness and to my local church for a charity. They range from $30 to $80 each, they make great gifts for birthdays, graduations etc...it's something they will have forever. I enjoy making these opposed to other woodworking items because it is different and allows me more creativity."
