Northborough Re-Names A Couple Of Streets (To Avoid Confusion)

No more confusion about Whitney Street and Whitney Ave.

NORTHBOROUGH, MAβ€”There's no sense in causing confusion out on the streets, especially with so much confusion in the world.

At a recent Board of Selectmen meeting, Kathy Joubert proposed the idea of renaming Whitney Ave. in Northborough to Whitney Street and a portion of Whitney Street be named Berlin Road.

Joubert said at the meeting that even businesses located on Whitney Ave. will use a Whitney street address. You and your GPS can breathe a sigh of relief. The fire chief, police chief, principal assessor, building inspector, town planner and the postmaster all met to talk about these particular street names and unanimously recommended the re-naming.

All recommended that Whitney Avenue be renamed Whitney Street, as "it is a natural continuation of
Whitney Street and further that the left fork of Whitney Street be renamed Berlin Road."

Joubert added that the Historic District Commission are in favor of the changes, too.

It will likely not change the amount of cows that tend to wander out on to Whitney - whether it be Ave. or Street.
