Northborough-Southborough's HS MCAS Scores Top State Averages

Algonquin High School exceeds state averages in math by 29 percent and exceeds state averages in English by 26 percent.

NORTHBOOUGH-SOUTHBOROUGH, MA — The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) scores. Northborough-Southborough School District's Algonquin High School has reason to be exceedingly pleased with the results.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has seemingly affected scores across the Commonwealth, this did not seem to be the case at Algonquin.

Algonquin High School far exceeded results compared to the state and far exceeded results as compared to Algonquin 2019 results in English.

For Grade 10 English Language Arts, 37 percent of Algonquin students exceeded expectations compared to 19 percent average for the state and 53 percent of Algonquin students met expectations compared to 45 percent for state.

Thus, Algonquin High School students had 90 percent meeting or exceeding expectations as compared to 64 percent meeting or exceeding for the state in English Language Arts.

This is compared to 2019 when 82 percent of Algonquin High School students met or exceeded expectations in English.

In math, 81 percent of Algonquin High School students met or exceeded expectations in 2021 compared to 52 percent for the state.

In 2019, 83 percent of Algonquin High School students met or exceeded expectations in math showing a slight decline with the 2021 scores.
