Paving Work On I-290 In Northborough

Detours will be in place during the construction.

NORTHBOROUGH, MA—Drivers, take note. There's some work being done on I-290.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced overnight paving work is coming up in the right-hand travel lane next week along I-290 westbound in Northborough.

Paving occurs during overnight hours on Tuesday, May 29, through Thursday, May 31 at Exit 25 A/B (Solomon Pond Mall Road) and Exit 24 (Church Street) between the hours of 9 p.m. through 4 a.m. There will be intermittent ramp closures during the work. Both exits will not be closed simultaneously; the contractor will complete work at Exit 25 A/B prior to moving westbound.

Traffic looking to use Exit 25 A/B westbound will be detoured to Exit 24 (Church Street) and directed to follow the detour signage in place. Traffic looking to enter I-290 westbound from this location will be directed to utilize I-290 eastbound in order to access I-495 southbound to Exit 24A (Route 20 eastbound).

Traffic looking to use the Exit 24 (Church Street) westbound off ramp will be directed to Exit 23 B (Rte. 140). Traffic looking to enter I-290 westbound from Church Street in Northborough will be directed to I-290 eastbound in order to reverse direction at Solomon Pond Road -Exit 25 B.

Signage and messaging will be in place to notify vehicular traffic of these detours. MassDOT encourages the public to be mindful of potential traffic impacts. Those traveling through the area should reduce speed and use caution.
